Sunday box office estimates have Transformers blowing up the competition like a Furby truck and making about $152 million domestically in its first week. The action film directed by Michael Bay was made under a modest budget for a special FX film, costing only $145-150 million. Globally, the film has made over $246 million in 40% of overseas markets. The remaining 60% percent like Japan and the UK are still waiting for the film. Transformers has also set a new record for the biggest opening week box office of a non-sequel. |
